For the first time ever the White-Blues managed to win the euro cups match by two goals playing outnumbered with the score being 0:0 when centre back Aleksandar Dragović was sent off by Belarus referee Kulbakov!
It’s interesting that the first triumph of the kind, but by narrow margin, took place as Kyivans faced another Danish club. On November 6 1991 they defeated Brøndby IF away within the Champions’ Cup round of 16 second leg.
In that game referee Irvin from Northern Ireland sent Pavlo Yakovenko off 43 minutes into the match for the second booking, but out team still managed to win.
After that Dynamo also defeated Barcelona, who had numerical advantage, within the Champions’ Cup round of 32.
That fixture took place on September 15 1993. Pavlo Shkapenko opened the score early in the game, but 27 minutes into the match referee awarded penalty for Barcelona and booked Serhiy Mizin for the second time. Koemen converted from the spot.
Still after that 75,000 spectators at the NSC Olimpiyskyi witnessed brace netted by Viktor Leonenko and Dynamo victory 3:1.
