2 rules from the head coach: Be careful and make commitment
With its performance, the mankunians let everybody see they are one of the best in the world. You have to be very careful when playing against Manchester. Any wrong move may cost us a lot. But we must not be afraid to play against even a strongest opponent. As soon as you are on the pitch and do the warming up, all the fears (I admit we feel them) dispel. All you need to do is to show character. I would like to have 20 men of great character. A good example here could be Dynamo former player Lyzhnyy. Out of current players I could single out Taras Mykhalyk who shows commitment throughout 90 minutes.
Recovery joy and injury trouble
I am content with the situation. Both Bangoura and Diakhaté, who have been out of action for quite a spell, are back on the pitch. Taras Mykhalyk is doing much better and he may appear in the match tomorrow. Rebrov played in one match but his thigh continues to cause him trouble. Some better news from Michael, who is back for training. Another thing I would like to add here is that now we are not the Dynamo we used to be three weeks ago.
Youngsters vs. foreign players
I strongly believe that foreign players do no harm to Dynamo and Ukrainian football in general. Yet, we must produce our own players who would be able to compete with the foreigners. We do have talented youngsters. It is all about trusting the young players. Still, it takes time to build up a team. Provided I have it [time], you will see a new team.
Oleksandr Shovkovskyy
Recently, the 32-year-old Dynamo goalkeeper has been overloaded. It is the concern of the Ukraine international and the club as well. In the national team he faces competition from Andriy Pyatov (FC Shaktar). We try and give some rest. On the other hand, Oleksandr needs regular football so I can not omit him in the lineup and in the training. There was some thinking to leave him out of the Saturday’s game vs. Zakarpattya, but as he missed the 2008 Euro qualifier against the Faeroes, it was better for the goalie to appear on Saturday.
Females vs. soccer
The reason why I separated the players from their ladies is that everything must be done within limits. I find it utterly unacceptable when a player has a date with a girl on the night before the match and they hang out in a night club until dawn. There will no use of such a footballer. My initiative, however, mounted no resistance among the squad.
