History
On July 15 1848 Munich PT club was established, but later it was prohibited by government for political reasons.
The club was founded again on May 17 1860. The Lions’ football team was established almost 40 years later, on April 25 1899. Their first official game took place on July 27 1902. In 1926 the club got its own arena called Grünwalder Stadion.
Nowadays TSV 1860 München share Allianz Arena with Bayern.
In 1965 the Lions achieved their greatest success ever. They played in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final and lost against FC West Ham. One year later they won Bundesliga.
Today 1860 München play in 2. Bundesliga.
Head coach
On November 17 the 44-year-old specialist Alexander Schmidt became the head coach of TSV 1860 München. He’s been working in the club since 2002.
Current situation
German side have finished 2.Bundesliga 2012/13 season in the 6th place. The best striker of the team is Benjamin Lauth (12 goals). Among other key players are goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly, defender Guillermo Vallori, midfielders Kai Bülow and Moritz Stoppelkamp (pictured).
The future friendly will be the third between Dynamo Kyiv and 1860 München. The White-Blues won two previous games – 3:1 (January 18 1998) and 1:0 (January 24 2004).
