Dynamo Kyiv secured their place in the Ukrainian Cup Round of 16 with a 2-3 victory over FC Kremin (Kremenchuk) at the Politekhnik Stadium on Wednesday.
Ahead of Saturday’s Ukrainian Premier League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk and next week’s Europa League group stage match vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Yuriy Semin opted to give a number of his first-choice players a much-needed period of recovery. As expected, he fielded an experimental squad featuring a couple of regular players, several young players, and two debutants. Dynamo started with Artem Milevskyy and summer signing, Nigerian forward Fanendo Adi up front. Lukman Haruna and Carlos Corrеa were brought into central midfield while Oleh Husyev and Dudu occupied the right wing and left wing respectively. Denys Harmash partnered Ayilla Yussuf in the middle of defence with first-team debutant Serhiy Rybalka at right-back and Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev on the opposite side. Maksym Koval was in goal.
Serhiy Rybalka gave his side the lead in the 14th minute and his opener was followed by goals from Adi and Dudu. Sumtsov then pulled a goal back midway through the second half before his team-mate Mykyta Vovchenko made it 2-3 to set up a tense finale minutes.
