Our head coach Olexandr Khatskevych didn’t surprise anyone and used almost the same starting lineup as in the Ukrainian Super Cup against FC Shakhtar Donetsk and UPL game against FC Karpaty Lviv. The only difference was that Sydorchuk replaced Shepelev in the midfield.
Both sides started the game quite actively and created chances. Karavayev attempted from inside the box, but sent the ball over the bar. Brugge responded with dangerous shots from Bonaventure and Okereke, but Boiko saved our team both times. Besedin had the best Dynamo opportunity. He eluded two opponents, but failed to score in one-on-one situation.
There was a lot of scrimmage on the field, so referee awarded free kicks regularly. Anyway, late in the second half home side increased the tempo and succeeded. Karavayev fouled inside our penalty area and Vanaken converted from the spot.
Trying to change the situation, the White-Blues coach made two substitutions right after the break. Tsyhankov and Rodrigues, who took the field, really enforced the team. Gerson had a chance to equalize after corner, but defender managed to clear the ball.
Anyway, it’s 1:0 for Brugge which means it will all be settled in the return match at the NSC Olimpiyskyi. See you at the stadium on August 13!
