What do head coaches care about? Just have a look.
Mircea Lucescu about conspiracy theories
- When I just came to Ukraine the same team was winning domestic league all the time. For some reasons this team always played key matches halfway through the season… The first game Shakhtar played under my charge was against Dynamo. In Kyiv. We won 2:0. I thought the second round would start with the same battle in Donetsk, but regulations were changed so that Dynamo could face Shakhtar in the last matchday. Then I realized that something wrong was going on.
Next example: we had to start 2008/09 season with two away fixtures in Lviv which goes against football ethics. Shakhtar lost five points at once… I want to draw your attention to the fact that the same season we won the UEFA Cup and outplayed Dynamo in the semifinal.
Similar situation was in Romania when Steaua, Ceaușescu family team, won 100 matches in a row!
Serhiy REBROV about factors that make players stronger and angrier
- I respect Lucescu. It’s interesting to communicate with him. This specialist has achieved a lot in football. Still it’s unpleasant when he speaks ill about our league and my team.
I guess that’s a part of his strategy. I’m not interested in that. I hope my players also don’t listen to that, but if they do I hope that makes them angrier.
Of course there’s a gap between us and Shakhtar, but we mustn’t think about that when we take the field.
