Sammy Ofer Stadium is a new arena in Israeli city of Haifa that replaced Kiryat Eliezer Stadium built in 1955.
At the moment this is the best stadium in Israel. It has UEFA fourth category.
They laid the foundation of the arena in 2009 while the construction started a year later. The project was developed by British architect bureau KSS Architects Group.
The stadium is located on the skirt of Haifa not far from MATIB park. It was named after businessman Sammy Ofer, who paid 20% of development costs.
It took 530 million shekels or 145 million dollars to build the stadium. Opening ceremony took place on August 27 2014. That day local Hapoel defeated Hapoel Acre 2:0.
Sammy Ofer Stadium main stand – Western – has the capacity of 5000 seats. Locker rooms, conference halls, press center, restaurant and sky boxes are located here. The capacity of three other stands is 25,820 seats. The arena has two LED displays. The size of each of them is 72 square meters and weight – 12 tones.
The statue of girl in front of the stadium symbolizes peace all over the world.
It’s a present for Haifa from sister city Shanghai. Its weight is 40 tones and height – 16 meters.
It’s expected that there will be full house at the stadium as Maccabi Tel Aviv FC face FC Dynamo Kyiv.
