- I don’t want to be a reserve player as I’m rather ambitious. I have no offense as every coach has his peculiar tactics. I want to thank Ihor Surkis for understanding and for everything he did for me. I also want to thank Dynamo fans and all the staff of the team – doctors, masseurs, administrators. I had a great time in Kyiv but now I must move on.
- Today you had a talk with Oleh Blokhin, Olexiy Mykhailychenko and Serhiy Rebrov. What did they wish you?
- They wished me luck. I explained them that I want to play for Croatia national team very much as we have good chances to qualify for the World Cup. I also wished Dynamo good luck as in the second part of the season they are to secure the Champions League spot.
- A transfer from Dynamo Kyiv to Spartak Moscow is an extraordinary event as these sides are old rivals. Some fans may not like that…
- I always did my best in every match for Dynamo Kyiv and I think that fans won’t get me wrong. I want to play football but not just to get money sitting on the substitutes’ bench.
- Ex-Dynamo and Spartak players have friendly relations. They often meet and play friendlies. Can you become another linking element between these two sides?
- It’s great that they have such good relations. I think that I’ll also play in such matches some day.
- Do you remember Dynamo outplay Spartak in 2008?
- I remember that. We defeated them 4:1 both in Moscow and in Kyiv and thus qualified to the Champions League group stage.
- You must be looking forward to meeting ex-Croatia head coach Slaven Bilić as Spartak will face FC Lokomotiv Moscow soon…
- I haven’t thought about that yet. I’ll be glad to meet Bilić. Besides a friend of mine Vedran Ćorluka also plays for Lokomotiv. My aim is to play well for Spartak and in summer I’ll decide what to do next together with Ihor Surkis.
