The forthcoming Europa League group stage away fixture, which will take place on October 23, will be the fifth for Serhiy Rebrov against this club and first in the role of FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach. Being a forward he netted one of the most spectacular goals in his career against this team. Now let’s recall the history of face-to-face matches against this opponent.
First meeting
Dynamo faced Aalborg for the first time on August 9 1995 in Kyiv. 70,000 spectators came to the stadium to witness the White-Blues victory – 1:0. The decider was scored from the spot by Yevhen Pokhlebaiev eight minutes before the time.
After the game Kyivans’ president Hryhoriy Surkis told players: “Congratulations. First of all you’ve proved that you are real men”.
Home side really managed to break the back of Danish team due to virile character and desire to win.
Visitors’ head coach Sepp Pionted said that his defenders coped with Dynamo fast forwards, but the White-Blues halfbacks were great. Especially Kalytvyntsev.

Danish ambassador didn’t help…
The game, which took place in Aalborg, was totally controlled by Yozhef Sabo’s men. The ambassador of Denmark in Ukraine even came from Kyiv to watch this match. Danish side direction promised to play performers 20 thousand dollars each for qualification for the Champions League.
This dream didn’t come true. Yuriy Kalytvyntsev opened the score in the first half and Andriy Shevchenko scored brace after the break.
Consolation goal was netted by Rasmussen four minutes before the time.
After the final whistle Piontek stated: “Kyivans have proved to be a high profile team and this sly Sabo outplayed me before the game started”
Second leg
23.08. 1995. Aalborg. Aalborg Stadium. 13,200 spectators
Aalborg BK – FC Dynamo Kyiv – 1:3 (0:1)

Rebrov’s wonder-goal
On August 11 1999 Dynamo under the charge of Valeriy Lobanovskyi faced Aalborg within the Champions League 3rd qualifying round.
The first leg was difficult. It will be remembered by supporters due to the fabulous goal netted by Serhiy Rebrov 11 minutes into the match.
Our striker managed to elude three opponents and hit the upper V!
Five minutes before the break Maksim Shatskikh doubled the score and after the game Strandli hit the target for visitors.
1999/2000 Champions League. Third qualifying round

Weighty argument of Maksim Shatskikh
In the second leg our performers’ character played the key role.
Danish side controlled the ball really well and scored the early opener 9 minutes into the game.
The same situation happened right after the break.
15 minutes before the time Andriy Husin managed to net the ball after cross from the left flank.
The game was approaching extra time, but 90 minutes into the match Maksim Shatskikh scored after another cross into the box!
