In the World Cup fixture between Russia national team and Cameroon Oleh Salenko netted five goals and thus established the record of the Mundial. It remains unbeaten till now. At that tournament Salenko hit the target six times and got the Golden Boot.
- Was the Golden Boot the crown of your career?
- I don’t thin so. I really demonstrated bright play in that game, but as for me, those matches when we won trophies, are more memorable. For example in 1990 I won the Soviet Top League and the USSR Cup with FC Dynamo Kyiv. I scored a hat trick against CSCA in the semifinal and against Lokomotiv in the final.
