On May 13 family, friends, FC Dynamo Kyiv and Football Federation of Ukraine representatives, classmates, journalists and admirers of the maestro talent laid flowers on Valeriy Lobanovskyi’s grave at Baikove cemetery.
After that everyone went to Dynamo Stadium named after the legendary coach. At noon the meeting with the participation of the UEFA vice-president Hryhoriy Surkis and FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis took place at the monument to Valeriy Vasyliovych.
Among guests of the meeting were member of parliament of Ukraine, contestant for the presidency Petro Poroshenko, famous boxing champion, politician Vitaliy Klychko, president of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka and president of Professional Football League Miletiy Balchos.
Those present held a moment of silence in honour of the great man.
We live till we are remembered. Reminiscence of Valeriy Lobanovskyi will live forever.
For contemporaries and further generations Valeriy Lobanovskyi will be a symbol of love and dedication to football.
There will always be people at the stadium named after him, those for whom football is more than just a game. Just like it was for Valeriy Vasyliovych.
