- We’ve gathered here to watch a film and honor the great Ukrainian – Valeriy Lobanovskyi. Presidents, prime ministers, ministers and ambassadors are here. They have two things in common: they love Ukraine and they love football.
When Ukraine temporary didn’t exist on political map of the world, Valeriy Lobanovskyi and his team glorified our country. When you come to any part of the world and say that you’re from Ukraine, people mention Andriy Shevchenko and Valeriy Lobanovskyi.
Lobanovskyi has made strong contribution into development of Ukrainian football and Ukrainian state. Three Ballon d’Or holders – Blokhin, Belanov and Shevchenko – are his trainees.
He passed away 14 years ago, but he lives as long as we remember him.
Kyiv ultras, who stated they would fight for European Ukraine three years ago in Maidan, are also his successors.
It’s quite symbolic that Dynamo and Valeriy Lobanovskyi struggled against Barcelona on the field and then faced each other at the film festival in Milan. Lobanovskyi and Dynamo have won again. I’d like to thank everyone, who helped to create this film as it’s very important to remind Ukrainians what a great nation we are.
We need such films. Films about our state, our people, our teams and Ukrainians’ victories. Glory to Ukrainian football! Glory to Ukraine!
