On February 18 2009 he opposed the White-Blues in the Europa League round of 32 first leg featuring for Valencia CF. The game ended in a draw – 1:1. In the return match FC Dynamo Kyiv also managed to salvage a draw – 2:2 – and thus qualified for the following stage.
On May 14 2015, being Napoli player, Albiol faced FC Dnipro at the NSC Olimpiyskyi in the Europa League semifinal. Ukrainian side won (1:0) and reached the final.
Featuring for Real Madrid CF this defender (height – 190 cm, weight – 82 kg) won the 2011/12 La Liga, 2011 national cup and 2013 Super Cup.
Albiol’s achievements with Spain national team are even more impressive. In 2010 he won the World Cup and in 2012 – European Championship.
In 2013 Spanish player, who’s turned 31, joined Napoli and got what he lacked in Madrid – game practice. He’s already made 135 appearances for Italian side, scored two goals, won 2014 Italian Cup and 2015 Super Cup.
Napoli #33 has good intuition. He’s quite tough defender, which is why he got 10 bookings last season and the year before.
Speed isn’t one of Albiol’s strengths and we hope the White-Blues forwards will use this.
