Our team smashed their opponent. At first they hammered Rapid in Austria 4:1 and then did it at the Republican Stadium in Kyiv – 5:1!
In the first leg Ihor Belanov netted brace and then Vasyl Rats and Pavlo Yakovenko hit the target. Seven minutes before the time Willfurt scored for Wien side. The player that assisted him was Zlatko Kranjcar – the father of our former halfback Niko Kranjcar.
After the game Valeriy Lobanovskyi stated: “What happened in the midfield was decisive. Before the break Rapid controlled the game, but didn’t succeed. In the second half the battle was intense and we won it”.
In the second game the White-Blues motivation was decisive. After the final whistle the head coach of our club stated: “The most difficult task was to make the team play with dedication. I think we’ve managed to do it. Hundred thousand fans didn’t give us the right to relax”.
In the following round Dynamo faced FK Dukla Prague. We’ll tell about this battle in the next “Milestone anniversaries” project material.
