In the game that traditionally started new season champions of Ukraine (Dynamo) faced the national cup holders (Shakhtar). The match took place at the Chornomorets Stadium in Odesa.
Before the game 2015/2016 season laureates got personal awards. Andriy Yarmolenko became the UPL best player while Serhiy Rebrov – best coach.
The battle was really exciting. The first half was very intense as both sides were getting accustomed to game rhythm after summer training camps.
After the break Shakhtar opened the score – Fred eluded Antunes and hit the far corner. This goal made Dynamo attack more actively and eventually Domagoj Vida equalized with a header.
As far as the game ended in a draw the winner was defined in a penalty shootout. Bernard and Selezniov didn’t convert from the spot and thus FC Dynamo Kyiv won their sixth Ukrainian Super Cup.
