- I think there are no pushovers at this stage. Even teams that were in the second pot went through challenging qualifying rounds. We can’t underestimate anyone. On the other had we must aim for win in every match. Our group is absolutely normal. We can oppose each team and I hope we’ll do it worthily.
- Do you agree that Chelsea FC are the much-fancied side?
- Before Barclays Premier League start they also said that, but first games have proved that it’s not all that simple as that’s a very serious competition. So is the Champions League. If players of some team think they are the much-fancied side they can pay for that.
We must get ready for each game very thoroughly. There’s nothing extraordinary about that.
- Were some opponents more preferable for you than others?
- Nothing of the kind. I think our group is optimal and we can succeed. Still we must do our best for that. We have chances and ability to get out of this group.
- Will matches against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and the Champions League in general be the biggest challenge in your coaching career?
- I don’t revolve around some challenges… One must get ready for each game in every competition properly. We help our performers, analyze opponents’ play and I hope our players realize that one must work as hard as possible. Football is a game, so anything can happen on the field, but if you demonstrate dedication there will be nothing to reproach you for.
The same can be said about coaches. If you get players ready for every match properly there’s nothing you can be ashamed of.
