FC Dynamo Kyiv missed the chance to contest the Ukrainian Cup final as they suffered a 1-0 away defeat at the hands of Ukrainian arch-rivals FC Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
As was expected both teams fielded their strongest lineups. Seeking revenge for their UEFA Cup semi-final defeat against the Miners, the visitors struggled hard to break down a solid and well-organised Shakhtar’s defence, with Milevskyy, Aliyev and Bangoura coming close to taking the lead.
The scoreline remained blank until seven minutes from time as Shakhtar second-half substitute Mariusz Lewandowski was in the right place to turn in the rebound after Darijo Srna's shot had been parried by Dynamo keeper Stanislav Bogush.
