Sheriff – Dynamo – 2:0. Setback in Transdniestria

An early goal from Aleksandr Erokhin and a penalty kick from Jymmy França in the first half of the Group E Matchday 2 clash condemned Dynamo Kyiv to their first defeat of the UEFA Europa League campaign and made Sheriff the first Moldovan club to overcome Ukrainian opposition since independence.

It took the hosts just eight minutes to take the lead when their midfielder Aleksandr Erokhin benefited from a goalkeeper’s error. Valeriy Gazzaev's men had a perfect chance to get back on level terms through Miloš Ninković and Andriy Yarmolenko ten minutes later but instead of finding the back of Sheriff's net, they found themselves two goals down. Jymmy França left no chances to Dynamo keeper Denys Boyko from the spot midway through the first half after the hosts were awarded a penalty for a handball on the goal line.

The White-Blues were searching for a goal till the final minutes of the match and were pressing the opponents with persistence but unfortunately couldn’t find the finishing touch.
