The game will take place at the Jan Breydel Stadium in Brugge. We’ve decided to tell about this arena in more detail.
This multifunctional stadium is one of the biggest in Belgium and belongs to the city. It was opened in 1975 and called Olympiastadion at first. Back than it had a capacity of 30 thousand people, but most spectators had to watch football standing. In 1990s the arena got ordinary stands, but the capacity was reduced to about 20 thousand seats.
In 1998 the stadium was reconstructed in the lead-up to Euro-2000. As a result, the capacity was increased to 29 062 seats. Now it’s the third largest football arena of the country.
Before the European championship, the stadium was named after Jan Breydel – medieval Belgian national hero, who fought for freedom.
In December of 2015 they replaced natural turf of the stadium with hybrid Mixto Hybrid Grass produced in Italy.
