The idea of the Joint tournament appeared as Shakhtar Donetsk played friendly against Spartak Moscow last summer.
- The game was interesting. It attracted many spectators, so we decided to develop this idea further, - told Spartak Moscow executive director Roman Askhabadze. – We were supported by Zenit Saint Petersburg and Dynamo Kyiv.
Shakhtar Donetsk executive director Serhiy Palkin stated:
- This tournament will be a good preparation for the next season. It looks interesting as very good teams will participate in it.
Zenit Saint Petersburg football Academy coach Yevhen Zezin said:
- The Joint tournament will help players regain their physical conditions. I think it will be interesting for spectators. Sparrings with strong opponents are very useful.
The Joint tournament starts on June 27 2013.
