Ukraine national team succumbed to a 1-2 defeat by England in the away FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifier on Wednesday 1 April.

Peter Crouch put England into the lead from close range after 29 minutes at Wembley. Frank Lampard's corner was met by John Terry whose header found Peter in the area to open the score with powerful volley.

Ukraine coach Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko and England manager Fabio Capello both made changes near the hour, with Andriy Shevchenko replacing Voronin and David Beckham substituting Aaron Lennon.

With 16 minutes left former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko levelled the score netting the equaliser past David James from 9 meters.

Capello's side tried to increase the tempo, and just as the match looked like ending in a draw, Terry struck the winner from close range - 2:1. A free kick from Beckham found its way onto Gerrard's head and Terry guided the ball into the net.
