Villarreal CF and Villarreal CF played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Liga match at the weekend.
Emery’s side got off to the perfect start when Ruben Baraja headed in Joaquin’s cross in the second minute of the match and they looked on course for victory when David Villa doubled their advantage just eight minutes later. Both sides created several scoring chances in the first half but those opportunities were not converted.
In added time, Villarreal were given a glimmer of hope when Fabricio Fuentes headed in to reduce the deficit, and the comeback was completed when Joseba Llorente fired in his own rebound in the 76th minute. The visiting side's joy was to be short-lived as Edu headed Valencia back in front on 79 minutes. But the Yellows came storming back, however, and got their chance when Joaquín was adjudged to have fouled Capdevila in the box. Giuseppe Rossi converted from the penalty spot to equalise with six minutes remaining.
