Viktor Tsyhankov awarded as Player of the year in Ukraine

This was the 26th polling of the kind with the participation if coaches and players of the Ukrainian Premier League clubs. These days it’s being held by Komanda 1 internet periodical.

Coach and 15 performers of each team took part in the polling. Each of them picked three top players in his opinion. The White-Blues gaffer Mircea Lucescu gave the first place to Tsyhankov. As for Viktor himself, he named Verbic, Shaparenko and de Pena.

97 out of 224 respondents (43%) included Tsyhankov into their top 3. 29% put him on the first place. Viktor has left the last year’s winner Taison from FC Shakhtar Donetsk way behind. This time Taison finished second while Shahab Zahedi from FC Olimpik Donetsk is third.

Last time Dynamo player won this award in 2014. That was Andriy Yarmolenko.

It’s quite symbolic that the awarding ceremony took place at Dynamo youth school training facility, where Viktor got his football education. His father Vitaliy and the head of Dynamo football school Olexandr Ishchenko were there with him this day.

Komanda 1 journalist Andriy Bohachov handed Viktor the award and stated:

- The peculiarity of our polling is that only players and coaches take part in it. We’ve surveyed 210 players and 14 coaches of all Ukrainian Premier League teams. This is the 12th time in history that Dynamo representative wins.
