Gerson Rodrigues: “I’ll keep working on headers”

- You look very optimistic every day. What do you think of the training process? Aren’t you tired?

- I’m glad we’re back to tight schedule after the long break. The training process isn’t easy, but it’s very beneficial. I enjoy it every day.

- There was an exercise when Mircea Lucescu wanted players to create corridors and free space. What was that about?

- Mister wants us to do some stuff multiple times to make these aspects sink into our mind. I think it’s a great tactics. If opponents apply pressure, our player passes into space and we keep the situation under control.

- When you did 10 vs 10 exercise the task was to take the ball over the line. What exactly did you practice this way?

- We practiced different combinations and tried to find each other. We must work hard to do this kind of stuff automatically.

- Players acted quite aggressively sometimes…

- Maybe. Probably I was aggressive too… But this is football. Everyone wants to win. Sometimes we get too emotional, but when we leave the field things change as we’re like a family.

- This was a pre-match session and you managed to score with a header. Was it important before the game?

- Sure, I need to work on headers and I’ll keep doing it. I hope I’ll score with a header in a match soon.

- You work beside young forward Vladyslav Vanat? He scored a spectacular goal at the session too. What do you think of him?

- He’s a good forward. He just needs more time and confidence. He’s fast and strong. I think this training camp will benefit him a lot.

- You’ve already won the Ukrainian Super Cup under the charge of Mircea Lucescu. What are your future goals?

- Our goal is to win the UPL and Ukrainian Cup. I hope next season we’ll feature in the Champions League again and we’ll try to do better this time. I think we can do it with such a wise and experienced coach as Mircea Lucescu.
