It’s about the self-conquest. Olexandr Zavarov was the first one to do something like that in football as he joined Juventus FC. A year later, on September 12 1989 he became the first Ukrainian to win the UEFA Cup.
That victory became the greatest achievement for Zavarov in Italy. He made a strong contribution into success of his team. In the first game of that contest against Górnik Zabrze Olexandr netted the decider.
Later he helped Turin side to outplay PSG, FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and Hamburger SV. Still the most important for him is that Juve fans still remember and respect him.
