Dynamo midfielder Andriy Yarmolenko shared his impressions of the match with Veres (3:0), evaluated his physical condition and spoke about working under the new coaching staff on the ProFootball Digital broadcast.
- I think today everything went as it should, a fair result – we earned three points. We scored an early goal, then a second and after that it becomes much easier to play against teams like Veres.
- You returned after an injury, played in Florence and today as well. How are you feeling before the winter break and the training camp?
- Everything is fine. It wasn’t a very serious injury so I missed only three weeks – not such a long time to lose form. Right now everything is basically okay, nothing is bothering me.
- You missed the moment when the coach changed and Ihor Kostiuk came in. As a team veteran how did you react to this?
- We’re working normally. We’ve known each other for a long time, many of guys have played under him before so we know his requirements. I’ve watched his U19 team many times so we’re familiar with his approach. In general everything is fine. It’s a normal working atmosphere.
- Can you share some details of the training process? What has changed in the team’s play compared to the period under the previous coach?
- You’re already analyzing everything in your programs so it gives you extra reasons to discuss how we played in September-October and how we’re playing now. So feel free to work (smiles).
- In what position does the coach see you?
- You should ask the coach about that. I’ve said many times that for me it’s not a problem to play in any attacking position. I don’t see anything difficult in playing on the right, left, behind forwards or as a forward myself.
- After the first match as interim head coach against Poltava Ihor Kostiuk said the team was not fresh. From outside it doesn’t seem like that now. How is it from within the team?
- Of course we weren’t fresh. But to me it seems like it’s all about psychology. When it’s hard for you, but you score a goal, that gives you positive emotions and you forget about the fatigue. But when you go through a long winless streak, concede goals and everything feels bad, it seems like you have no energy left. It’s good that we scored in the first half today and that gave us a positive boost. As for the game itself I wouldn’t say we felt like we spent 20 hours traveling from Italy to Kyiv. So, first and foremost, it’s about psychology. But, of course, towards the end of the season fatigue accumulates and there’s no escaping that.
- People often say that when a team wins at the end of the season it’s better not to go on a break. How do you feel about this?
- I think we do need this break, to be honest. The new coaching staff has come in and there are new requirements. It’s better for us to go through the training camp so that all players understand what we need to focus on and how we should play.
