FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the defeat against SC Dnipro-1 (0:3).
- Why do Shakhtar play in Kyiv while you play in Lviv?
- It was a huge mistake to play here. I wanted us to face Dnipro-1 and Zoria in Kyiv. Guys left Ukraine two months ago and haven’t seen their families since then. Even when we played the second leg against Benfica I felt their mental state was poor. That’s why I insisted on going to Kyiv.
When you play behind closed doors, there must be some extra emotions, but this wasn’t the case today. The team was doing bad psychologically again.
As for the game itself, Dnipro-1 played much more aggressively than we did. Besides, early substitution we had to make had its impact.
After the first goal Dnipro-1 got even more aggressive. When you’re the first to concede things change a lot.
In the second half there was little football, like 15-20 minutes, as they were killing the clock frequently.
We’re in a tough situation, but we need to go through this. I hope the return to Kyiv will help.
- Has Zabarnyi played his last match for Dynamo, considering his potential transfer?
- Maybe it was the last match with Dynamo for me, but not for Zabarnyi.
