Early in the year Georgia and Lithuania formed their own domestic leagues. Thus only 13 clubs featured in Soviet Top League.
As for Dynamo, 10 performers left the team, including Bessonov, Mykhailychenko and Protasov. Never the less Kyivans won USSR League for the 13th time in their history, besides Kyivans triumphed in the national cup.
A year later collapse of the Soviet Union took place and Valeriy Lobanovskyi left Dynamo.
Players
In 1990 FC Dynamo Kyiv performers Lukman Haruna, Roman Bezus, Younes Belhanda and Denys Harmash were born.
Harmash made his debut for the White-Blues in 2007 as Kyivans played friendly against AC Milan. Still he became first team regular only three years later.
Denys has already made more than one hundred appearances for Dynamo, besides he features for Ukraine national team.
Memorable matches
It wasn’t easy for Dynamo to win two last Soviet trophies.
On May 2 they flattened FC Lokomotiv Moscow 6:1 in USSR Cup gold-medal match.
On October 7 the White-Blues defeated FC CSCA Moscow in Kyiv and became Soviet Top League winners.
