Although Desna technically were the home side, the game took place at the Dynamo Stadium named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi.
Kyiv side coach made three substitutions in the starting lineup comparing with the home game against Club Brugge KV. Karavayev, Shepelev and Rodrigues replaced Popov, Shaparenko and de Pena.
Each side created one scoring opportunity in the first half. At first Totovytskyi failed to hit the target after cross by Kalytvyntsev. Later Past parried the attempt by Kedziora after corner.
Early in the second half Tsyhankov had a great chance after pass from Buialskyi, but sent the ball wide. Then Rodrigues didn’t manage to hit the target due to save by Past. Meanwhile Desna replied with a goal. Kalytvyntsev put a cross from the left side and Budkivskyi headed the ball in – 1:0.
This goal made Dynamo rush forward. In the 87th minute Bezborodko let Desna down by getting two bookings within five minutes and being sent off.
Dynamo kept increasing pressure and eventually succeeded. Buialskyi tried to elude Hitchenko inside the box, but the latter handled the ball. Upon checking VAR, referee awarded penalty and Tsyhankov converted from the spot – 1:1.
Unfortunately Kyivans didn’t have enough time to equalize. Now they’re only one point in front of FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the league table.
