The first round fixture between these sides took place at the NSC Olimpiyskyi although it was technically away match for Dynamo, so this time the game was played in Dnipro.
Tomasz Kedziora and Denys Popov couldn’t benefit the White-Blues in this match due to suspensions.
Dynamo applied pressure in attacking half early in the game while Dnipro-1 focused on defense.
The first half wasn’t replete with scoring chances. Valeriy Yurchuk coped with the shot by Shaparenko and cross by Mykolenko quite easily.
Both sides played toughly. For instance, Dovbyk got a booking in the first half which turned into red card after the break. Serhiy Sydorchuk got a yellow and thus will miss the game against Shakhtar.
After the break the situation didn’t change a lot. Dynamo attacked using both wings, but possession didn’t turn into scoring opportunities.
Eventually, in the 58th minute, Carlos de Pena took a corner, Vitaliy Mykolenko rushed into the penalty area and hit the target – 1:0!
Later Dovbyk got the second booking for the foul against Zabarnyi which made things even more complicated for Dnipro-1.
In several minutes Sydorchuk dispossessed his opponent in the midfield and passed to Rodrigues. Dnipro-1 keeper coped with the strike by Gerson, but Sydorchuk was the first to obtain the ball and sent it into the net – 2:0!
After that Dynamo played calmly with consideration to the score. Dnipro-1 best chance happened when Khoblenko attempted with a header after cross from the right side, but missed.
It’s 2:0 – Dynamo win and stay 7 points ahead of FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
