This football player was adored by supporters all over the Soviet Union.
The period of his career, “Peka” spent featuring for FC Dinamo St.Petersburg alongside famous striker Mikhail Butusov, was the greatest one in his career.
Still when Butusov took charge of the team he had a conflict with Dementiev and in May of 1938 Petro left for the capital of Ukraine to feature for FC Dynamo Kyiv. Still USSR authorities didn’t let him play for the White-Blues and he had to return to St. Petersburg.
After the Second World War Dementiev came to Kyiv again and his “old friend” Butusov headed Dynamo.
In 1947 Kyivans finished fourth in Soviet Top League and won Ukrainian Cup, which was a great success at that time.
In 1948 “Peka” returned to his native St. Petersburg to work under Butusov again…
