Maksym Roienko: «We took the initiative and saw the match through to victory»

Dynamo U21 goalkeeper Maksym Roienko, who played his first match in the UPL-2, commented on the game against Chernivtsi-based Bukovyna and the White and Blues’ 2:1 away victory.

– Overall, it was a decent game, they are a difficult opponent. In addition, we played on an artificial pitch that we are not used to. It was quite difficult, but we secured the victory in the final minutes. Two seasons ago, Bukovyna played in the U19 First League, and I faced them there. A pretty good team. In addition, the U21 squad was strengthened by players from the first team. They played their football at their home ground. We took the initiative and saw the match through to victory.

– How did it feel to play after a week-long break?

– I had a match for the U19 team against Shakhtar in the middle of the week, so unlike the other guys, I did not feel this break.

– In the moment when you conceded the goal, you managed to reach the ball, but it still crossed the goal line. Tell us more about that moment.

– It was a really difficult, powerful shot. I did not see the actual moment of the shot, then I played the ball, put out my hand, but it was not enough.

– This is your first match for the Dynamo U21 team. Did you feel any differences compared to the U19?

– The difference is in the speed, because the guys are older. I have already got used to it. Usually, the coaches tell us in advance which team each player will play for – U19 or U21.

– How will you prepare for the next match against LNZ?

– I cannot say yet whether I will play. I picked up a minor injury, so perhaps I will need to take a break, we will see.
