Dynamo U21 senior coach Pavlo Cherednichenko commented on his team’s match against Chernivtsi-based Bukovyna and shared his impressions of the 2:1 away victory.
– Today, there were two teams on the football pitch that wanted to win, so it was a good match, especially for the spectators. There were many scoring chances, spectacular episodes, and emotions. I am satisfied with the result and with the fact that we are leaving Chernivtsi with three points. As for the players’ actions and discipline, we will talk to the players, apply disciplinary sanctions, and make them understand that they cannot let the team down at any moment. Emotions on the football pitch must be controlled in any situation.
– What surprised your team or your coaching staff about Bukovyna U21?
– First of all, the artificial surface surprised us. I think it is difficult for any team to play on this surface, because probably 90% of matches are played on natural grass. So I would highlight this specific surface. For Bukovyna, this is their home stadium, so they have an advantage in their arsenal, while for any visiting team it is a disadvantage, because you need to adapt to the pitch, the surface and the way the ball bounces. Therefore, the team that adapts faster will have an advantage.
We watched the matches and prepared for the opponent’s team, which has many good players in its squad. More players born in 2006, 2005 and 2007 took part in today’s match. So we were preparing for a good game and a strong opponent.
– And did Bukovyna U21 themselves surprise you?
– The team did not surprise us. I repeat, they are a good, ambitious, disciplined team, well-trained technically and tactically. I heard the coach speaking from the side, and it was enough for him to say something just once, and the players would carry everything out on the pitch. The opponent’s plan was to play in a medium and low block, and they managed to contain our attacks and our attacking players.
