Press conference of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi after the game against Kolos

FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi answered media questions after the game against FC Kolos Kovalivka.

- Happy Easter, everyone! This is the day of hope and faith. We all believe and hope that the long-awaited peace comes to our country after our victory, and we will live a new life, because we understand very well that life will no longer be the same as it was before.

I want to thank all our warriors for doing what they do, for giving us the chance to celebrate and play football.

- How come Dynamo do much better in the second half quiet frequently?

- Our opponents have their own tactics and plans. It’s difficult to introduce some changes when the game is on, but we can do it during the break.

Secondly, players do certain amount of work on the field which means they get tired. We knew Kolos would be playing very densely. We took some aspects into account while other needed to be changed during the break. The first goal had a crucial impact. After that we used our chances. In the first half we had some opportunities as well, but unfortunately didn’t convert those into goals.

- It seems you changed the functions of Yarmolenko and wingers after the break. Is that so?

- We explain our players what to do in this or that situation. Basically there are four factors in football that can affect players’ actions – position relative to opponent’s goal, position relative to the ball, position relative to opposing players and position relative to teammates. One needs to do a proper job in each of these aspects. I don’t force players to stick only to one position. If it’s necessary to move lower into the midfield or defense zone, they need to do it.

Some things go well, some don’t. When the outcome is positive, guys feel these changes are effective. Sometimes things go wrong, but we oppose teams who also build certain plans. I always tell my players to enjoy each action they do on the field, no matter if it’s defensive or attacking one. It doesn’t matter who exactly scores. As you probably remember, in the previous game Nazar Voloshyn spotted Shepelev and passed so that his teammate scored. Things get better this way. That’s the way it should be. That’s how we get more unified with our common goal.
