Dynamo U21 midfielder Roman Salenko, the author of the winning goal against Chernivtsi-based Bukovyna, shared his impressions of the away match and the White and Blues’ 2:1 victory.
– We are tired, but, of course, it is very nice to win, so the mood is good. However, the game was quite difficult. After a journey that lasted almost eight hours by bus, even more, and on an artificial pitch as well, it had some effect. But a win is a win.
– Bukovyna are newcomers to the championship, and you had not faced them before. What do you think about this opponent, what impressions did you have?
– Not a bad team. They played, they tried, I really liked their character – they fought for every ball. From our side, it was even a little unpleasant, but in football terms, you could say it was right.
– The opponent held the draw almost until the end, but you managed to score the decisive goal. Tell us more about that episode.
– There was a moment just before that: I tried to shoot with my left foot, there was a deflection, but for some reason the referee did not see it and awarded a goal kick instead of a corner. I understood that even if we were going to shoot from outside the penalty area, such shots do not always work. Especially since the opponent also scored a very good goal.
I thought that crosses were not working at the end, so we had to try shooting from distance more often. And that’s how it turned out – I scored.
– This is your second goal – you also scored in the previous match against Kolos. Are you satisfied with your performance and scoring?
– It is always nice to score.
– Do you set individual goals for yourself in terms of scoring, to become the top scorer?
– I am always happy when the team scores, because the whole team always works for every goal. For me, it is more about development and growth as a footballer first and foremost. And victories are, of course, always enjoyable.
– The next match is at home, against LNZ. How will you prepare, what do you expect?
– When the new cycle begins, we will analyze the opponent. Right now, the U21 championship is such that teams can bring players down from the first team. In every match, you don’t know what to expect.
