Dnipro performer Jaba Kankava gave Husiev first aid. Roman Zozulia also ran up to Oleh very quickly and did his best to save Dynamo skipper’s life. These two were keeping Oleh’s breathing passages open until doctors arrived. One of the players, who took part in the match, has anonymously told the White-Blues official web site about what was happening on the pitch when Husiev was injured.
- Jaba responded swiftly to what happened. Dnipro players’ task was to start the counterattack quickly, so the majority of them were looking in opposite direction. Jaba acted like a real doctor. Roman Zozulia also ran up to Husiev quickly. Jaba was trying to unclench Oleh’s teeth not to let him suffocate. Roman put his fist into Husiev’s mouth to keep it open while Artem Fedetskyi was trying to snag the tongue.
- It seems that players acted concertedly, but it looked like a panic from the sidelines…
- The thing is everyone was yelling. Zozulia was screaming “Breathe, breathe!”, “Keep his mouth open!”. As doctors came up they snagged Husiev’s tongue with special pincers. It was important not to lose courage in that situation. Even Dnipro doctors were astonished at first. As Oleh regained conscience he was muttering something illegible. Eventually he was taken to ambulance car.
- Could Denys Boiko play more carefully in that episode?
- It’s weird that some think that Boiko could do that deliberately. Denys just didn’t see Oleh. Similar episode happened when Rybka hit Matheus, but fortunately everything worked out. All goalkeepers play that way in such situations.
