On Monday, October 12, Dynamo U21 played their match in the 8th round of the 2026/2027 Ukrainian Premier League-2 youth championship. Pavlo Cherednichenko’s side faced Lviv team Karpaty as the home team.
This time, Dynamo’s coaching staff included a number of first-team players in the squad. The start of the match was delayed by 45 minutes due to an air raid alert.
The hosts enjoyed more possession and began creating threats in front of the opposition goal from the outset. Prado, in particular, had two good opportunities to score, but on both occasions he was slightly unlucky. Karpaty, however, made the most of their chance.
The visitors won what appeared to be a relatively harmless free kick from a considerable distance from Dynamo’s goal, but they managed to execute an unusual and original routine. Abramchuk rolled the ball back to the unmarked Kopyl, who moved it to the right flank. One of the visiting players then headed the ball across to the opposite flank, where Kokodyniak was completely unmarked. He finished from close range to put his team ahead – 0:1.
The Kyiv side immediately pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but their attacks failed to produce a goal. Dynamo attacked frequently down the flanks, delivering crosses and low balls into the penalty area, but for some time they were unable to level the score. Supriaha, Ba and Pashko were particularly active, although their shots were either blocked or off target.
Towards the end of the first half, another White and Blue attack resulted in Dykyi hitting the crossbar, and Ba’s subsequent attempt was blocked. There was also danger at the other end, where Surkis had to intervene to keep his team in the game after Dedov’s shot. As a result, the teams went into the break with the hosts enjoying the territorial advantage but the visitors leading on the scoreboard.
At the start of the second half, the Lviv side threatened Dynamo’s goal mainly from set pieces. They took two consecutive corners but failed to create any significant danger. At the opposite end, Hubenko had a good opportunity to equalise but could not direct his shot on target after a superb pass from Dykyi on the left.
Soon afterwards, Dynamo won a promising set piece approximately 18 metres from goal, slightly to the right of centre, but Pashko fired over the crossbar. Following another attack, the ball somehow stayed out of the net, rolling along the goal line.
During the second half, Dynamo laid siege to the Karpaty goal, but neither set pieces nor chances created from open play resulted in a goal. In stoppage time, the visitors won a dangerous free kick, but Surkis produced an impressive diving save to turn the ball away.
Ultimately, Pavlo Cherednichenko’s team suffered a narrow 0:1 defeat. Dynamo U21 will play their next UPL-2 fixture away from home on Monday, October 19, when they face Zhytomyr side Polissia in the 9th round.
