- It’s been a while since Dynamo said good bye to coaches with warmth…
- As I’ve already said, I supported Rebrov. We talked on Monday. I hoped he would change his decision. Though this season was a failure I offered him to prolong his contract. Still he’s such a decent guy that he said honestly: “I have no more motivation to work with this team. You should either hire new coach or change a certain number of players”. Today we can’t do that.
I thanked him for his work. There are no eternal champions. I risked when I hired him as he didn’t work as head coach before that. He managed to become a good gaffer due to his character. I have no doubt that he’s already high profile specialist.
That’s not the end of Rebrov’s career. Today football is very exhausting. Serhiy has family, children. I’m very thankful to him. He’s done a lot. He’s built a system we must secure. Even this new field is his desert. He came here and said kids need more comfortable pitch.
All our age groups are leaders in Ukraine. We have future.
- What mark can you give Rebrov from one to ten?
- I’d give him the highest possible mark.
- Has Serhiy Rebrov given any recommendations?
- As far as I know, Rebrov has talked to Khatskevych. There are no secrets between them.
- Do you already know which players will leave the team?
- It’s hard to say. We haven’t got any transfer offers yet. Transfer window is about to open. Then we’ll sell and buy.
- Will Junior Moraes return to Kyiv?
- His loan agreement expires on July 1. We’ll be waiting for him if Chinese club doesn’t sign him. Kravets is back. He’ll stay with Dynamo. No more loan moves! I think he can help us. Still if we get transfer offers we’ll consider them. The same can be said about Belhanda and Mbokani. They are our players. If they don’t get transfer offers they’ll return.
- They say Khatskevych is just another coach with “Dynamo heart”…
- Let’s be honest. Foreign coach must have certain reputation. I don’t think we need any foreigner. It’s not a good time for that from financial point of view.
Today our task is to preserve the team and spirit, use promising youngsters. Someone likes Khatskevych and someone doesn’t. When I hired Rebrov many people didn’t like that, but he proved he can win the league and national cup.
If Khatskevych or another coach fails that will be my responsibility. If he makes the team play worthily and qualifies for the Champions League, everyone will applaud.
Khatskevych doesn’t criticize Rebrov’s work, he praises it. He says we don’t have to ruin anything. I think we have worthy team. Only one player left over two previous years – Dragovic. We signed Pantic and Kadar. If they don’t suit Dynamo other guys will play.
- Will there be a farewell match for Shovkovskyi and Husiev?
- We’re planning that and we’ll arrange such game. We want to have full house at this game. I’ve talked about that with Shovkovskyi. He’s ready for such match. He’s our legend and we must say good bye. Unfortunately we can’t arrange farewell game like the one Francesco Totti had. There are no matches of the kind in Ukrainian league.
- What do you think of the situation considering FC Desna Chernihiv? They haven’t been allowed to perform in Premier League.
- That’s madness and shame for our football federation. The team and its fans have deserved to feature in Premier League. There was joy in their city, but suddenly people, who don’t do anything, decided that FC Veres Rivne will play in the UPL. Desna didn’t present appropriate budget project, but one can give them time. What’s happening in our football is anarchy!
