Yevhen’s father also used to play football, but only as amateur.
Being a kid Makarenko entered FC Dynamo Kyiv Academy: “I started paying ball when I was five or six years old. Then I got into Dynamo Academy. I ran 15 meters and juggled a ball. I enjoyed playing football. My parents and grandparent took me to training sessions in turns”.
Last season Yevhen featured for FC Hoverla Uzhhorod on loan, after which we returned to Dynamo and became first team regular.
Makarenko is self-critical and that helps him to improve his skills.
- I don’t think that I’m first team regular yet. I must prove that I’m worth taking the field at every training session, working on my skills constantly, otherwise someone else will perform instead of me. I think only the head coach can define main squad players.
