Dynamo forward Matvii Ponomarenko shared his thoughts after the final match of the winter training camp in Turkey against Latvian side RFS, which White-Blues won 2:0, and reflected on the preparation period overall.
– Today was the final match of the training camp or rather two matches. What conclusions can you draw from this game day and the camp in general?
– It’s great that the camp ended on a positive note – with victories. Tomorrow morning we’ll head home in a good mood. There were two games today and we won both. All coaches congratulated us on completing the camp. Now we’ll prepare for the start of the second half of the championship. Overall I think we had a good camp. Guys reached optimal condition and are now 100% ready for matches in the Ukrainian Premier League and the Ukrainian Cup.
– Your desire to score was noticeable today and you managed to do it. How satisfied are you to get on the scoresheet?
– Of course, when a striker scores, the mood is always good. I really wanted to score because it was the last match of the camp before the Ukrainian championship resumes. So I think it’s great that I managed to do it today and now I’m returning to Ukraine in high spirits.
– After returning to Ukraine you’ll have one day off and on Friday there’s a match against Rukh. How quickly will the body adapt to the climate change?
– I don’t think we’ll feel anything unusual because we know what the weather is like in Ukraine. It was the same last year when we came back from Turkey to cold conditions. I think in a couple of days everything will be fine. We’ll have enough time to recover, prepare for the game and adjust to the weather. There will be one day off to rest, fully relax, spend time with loved ones and then focus directly on preparing for the first match after the winter break.
