National league U19. Dynamo – Shakhtar – 4:1. Match report

On Saturday, May 2, in Round 26 of the National League U19 Dynamo Kyiv U19 hosted Shakhtar Donetsk U19. It was a clash between top two teams in standings. After 25 rounds Dynamo had 61 points and sat second while Shakhtar led the table with 67 points.

Hosts started more actively, controlling possession and consistently threatening the opposition goal. By the middle of the first half Dynamo were already 2:0 up. After earlier attempts from Bekerskyi and Lobko Dykyi opened the scoring, finishing from inside the penalty area after a right-wing assist from Hubenko (1:0). Soon after another Dynamo attack produced a second goal: Liusin played a perfectly timed pass to Fedorenko, whose initial shot was saved by Shakhtar goalkeeper Bahlay but Liusin reacted first to the rebound and tapped it in from close range (2:0).

Shakhtar responded with a dangerous effort from Kante which went just wide of the post, though Dynamo keeper Surkis had the situation under control. Shortly afterward the match was interrupted for about 30 minutes due to an air raid alert. Once play resumed Fedorenko nearly made it 3:0 but Bahlay denied him with a low save. Bekerskyi also came close after a run down the left flank, his shot from a tight angle deflecting off the goalkeeper’s hand and hitting the outside of the post.

Early in the second half visitors pulled one back. Following a free-kick delivery Kante won the aerial duel and headed the ball past the Dynamo goalkeeper (2:1). The game continued at a high tempo with both teams launching quick attacks and creating chances.

In one episode Dynamo intercepted the ball during a goal kick. Lobko delivered a pass into the center of the penalty area where Liusin showed great composure to convert the opportunity (3:1). After that the tempo dropped slightly and chances became less frequent. Lobko had another attempt but his shot lacked power and was easily collected by the goalkeeper.

Shakhtar also had a good chance when Kante found himself unmarked near the goal line but Surkis won the one-on-one duel. Soon after Dynamo launched another scoring move: Surkis started the attack with a long clearance, Bekerskyi flicked the ball forward to Lobko whose attempt to chip the goalkeeper was partially stopped. The ball remained in play near the goal line and, after a scramble involving defenders and the goalkeeper, Liusin was in the right place to finish from close range, completing his hat-trick (4:1).

In the end it was a confident 4:1 victory for Dynamo. This win reduced the gap to Shakhtar to just three points and keeps Dynamo firmly in the title race. Dynamo U19 will play their next league match in Round 27 away against LNZ Cherkasy U19 on Friday, May 8.
