FC Dynamo Kyiv president Ihor Surkis has shared his impressions of the team’s preparations for the second part of the season.
- This isn’t the first time that you join the team at a training camp, and it’s already become a good tradition. What are your impressions of living with the team?
- I started traveling with the team like 30 years ago, when Yozhef Sabo was the gaffer. Then I did the Same when Valerii Lobanovskyi was in charge. We didn’t live so comfortably back them, but players were very motivated and reached the Champions League semifinal.
- You scored a free kick at the training session yesterday. Do you maintain a good shape?
- One should always stay fit. As for the team, I believe the UPL season will be tough. We mustn’t waste emotions. We need to demonstrate what we’re capable of on the field. I realize our fans aren’t satisfied with our euro cups performance. We have two more games and we must prove Dynamo are still here. There’s no point looking at the table anymore, we need to focus on our football. We must achieve more decent results.
- There’re re five Dynamo U19 players at the training camp with the first team. What do you think of them?
- They’re Dynamo future. We’ve got really talented youngsters – Redushko, Liusin and others. They can enforce the team, but it will take time.
When the war ends, we’ll be able to sign decent foreign players again, so now we need to focus on our academy. Not only Dynamo need that, but all Ukrainian national teams as well.
