FC Dynamo Kyiv defender Maksym Diachuk has shared his impressions of the start of preparations for the new season.
- Maksym, congrats on the start of pre-season. Have you managed to have rest on vacation?
- Sure, a month is more than enough to have rest. Now we’re ready to start preparations for the new season.
- First sessions after lasting vacation are quite tough. How was it for you?
- Thanks for asking (smiling). Fortunately everything is fine. I was getting ready when on vacation, had individual sessions, so it wasn’t that tough.
- Before the session Oleksandr Shovkovskyi told players you need to forget the last season and start from the scratch. Do you feel extra responsibility as acting champions?
- When we did it good, but this is history already. Now we have new goals. We’ve raised the bar high, so now we can’t lower it.
- Shovkovskyi also emphasized that you’re in for difficult, but important period. Are you ready for hard work at the training camp?
- Of course we are, that’s our job. In the first part of the training camp we usually do a lot of running and focus on our physical shape. Every player must be ready for that.
- The Club World Cup is underway. Do you follow it? Do you support anyone?
- I want to see Real Madrid play as I like the style of Xabi Alonso. I follow only them.
- Dynamo already know our potential opponents in the Champions League second qualifying round. What are your expectations. The Champions League is the level each player should aim for…
- That’s true, every player has a dream. I’ve always dreamed of hearing the Champions League anthem, of feeling these shivers… Of course we aim to qualify for the main stage. As for our potential opponents, we’ll analyze them at our theory classes.
