Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Oleksandr Pikhalonok shared his impressions of a gym workout that the team had during their training camp in Turkey.
– After the first friendly match of 2026 the team had an unusual day — a run and a gym session. What did you do in the gym today, what did you work on, which muscle groups were involved?
– All muscle groups were involved because it was a strength workout. At the end we did stretching. Even though we worked on strength, after the stretching I feel good.
– So how are you leaving the training session now — satisfied, relaxed? What’s the feeling inside?
– I’m satisfied, in a good mood and in good shape as I leave the training.
– Name the top five Dynamo players who are the most powerful physically.
– Denys Popov, Oleksandr Tymchyk, Volodymyr Brazhko, Matvii Ponomarenko and Andriy Yarmolenko.
– What do you need to do to get into that top five? How much do you need to train without the ball, in the gym?
– You need to do a lot of work in the gym to get into that top five.
– Do you like working in the gym? Going on your own to relax if you have time?
– Of course there’s no way without it. The gym is necessary every day, especially when there are two training sessions a day — you have to take care of yourself. It doesn’t even have to be strength training. It can be preparation before training or recovery after training. You need to do it to feel good.
– Is gym work already a habit, a duty or simply something you enjoy?
– I can’t say that I really enjoy going to the gym every day but it’s a habit.
