Vladyslav Kabayev: “It’s important to win even at the training camp”

FC Dynamo Kyiv halfback Vladyslav Kabayev has shared his impressions of the friendly against the Romanian side FCSB (2:1).

- How important was it to win today?

- It’s our first win of the year. It feels nice to succeed against the team that performs decently in the Europa League this season. Dynamo must win even at the training camp, it’s positive for any team, but tomorrow we have another game, so there’s no time for rest.

- How’re you dealing with this kind of schedule?

- Pretty fine. I’m 29 and I’ve been doing this for like 12 years. I always say it’s better to play than just practice. Of course it’s tough which was obvious in the first game, but we still have time to recondition and get ready for official matches.

- What’s the fundamental difference between friendlies and regular training sessions in terms of fitness work?

- Players usually don’t like just running and doing specific exercises, but that’s necessary. We know what we do it for.

- How important is it to pick proper opponents at the training camp? For instance, FCSB are reigning champions of Romania…

- Dynamo usually have well-known opponents. It’s better to test yourself against teams that do well in domestic leagues and euro cups. I think we were better today physically and mentally.

- Dynamo used the first squad today. Are you already getting ready for the Europa League?

- I don’t really know what kind of lineup we’re going to have in the upcoming games. Things change fast. I hope no one gets injured, but in case something happens we’ve got enough players to replace the injured ones.

- What’re you going to do back at the hotel today?

- I guess we’ll go to the pool, sauna, then we’ll probably have a massage. Then we have free time. Some play PlayStation, some read news, chat with their families.
